IPM15 Heat-Treated Timber Compliance

As part of our commitment to compliance, we use IPM15-certified timber for all wooden packaging materials.

ISPM15

(International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures No. 15)
Regulates the use of wood in export packaging, such as pallets, crates, and dunnage, to prevent the spread of pests and diseases across borders.

The regulation requires timber used in international shipments to be debarked and either heat-treated or fumigated with methyl bromide. Compliant materials are marked with the internationally recognized “wheat stamp” to certify treatment. ISPM15 applies to trade between the EU and non-EU countries.

BS1133

This is a British Standard that offers detailed guidelines for export packaging, particularly the design and construction of wooden boxes, crates, and cases.

The current version, BS 1133-8:2011+A1:2016, is widely used in the UK for industrial and export packing. It covers materials, fastenings, and packaging methods to protect goods—including food and metal items—during transit.

UKWPMP

(United Kingdom Wood Packaging Material Programme)

Ensures that all wood packaging used for exports—like pallets, crates, and dunnage—complies with ISPM15 regulations.

Wood must be heat-treated or fumigated to prevent the spread of pests and diseases, then marked with the official ISPM15 stamp to certify compliance for international shipping.
